Coach Mentzer enters his first year as the Tarpons Head Football Coach as he looks to build on the tradition of excellence at Charlotte High.  This will be Coach Mentzer's 8th overall season on the Tarpon Varsity football coaching staff. The prior two seasons he served as defensive coordinator under Wade Taylor.  

In 2010, Coach Mentzer graduated from Charlotte High School and was an outstanding student athlete where he played outside linebacker and led the defense to consecutive regional finals in 2008 & 2009. He was also an all-state Honorable Mention, and a member of the 2010 State Championship track team. He went on to attend Florida Gulf Coast University earning degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Masters of Business Administration, as well as a Master’s in Education. While a student at FGCU, he served as the Student Body Vice President in 2014-2015 and was selected into the FGCU class of 2015 Hall of Fame.  

Coach Mentzer is married to the love of his life, Kyrstin Mentzer and in June 2022 they welcomed their first child Judah into the world. Coach Mentzer is a man of faith, and leads Fellowship of Christian Athletes for Charlotte High as well as Strive Bible Study for his students and players. Coach Mentzer is excited for the football season and feels very blessed to be representing such a wonderful school and leading amazing young men to become O.N.E.! 

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Coach Wiseman went to Arkansas State University and graduated with a BSE in Physical Education. Coach Wiseman played football for the Red Wolves (Indians) and was a 2-time All-American center. He is beginning his 11th year at Charlotte High, previously working at CHS from 2002-2011. He is going on his 26th year of teaching and 31st year of coaching. Coach Wiseman currently serves as the Offensive Line Coach and Head Boys' Weightlifting Coach.

Coach Rebol is a CHS graduate and will be entering his 7th year on the Charlotte High coaching staff. He was an All-State linebacker and All-Arena baseball player for the Tarpons. Coach Rebol went to Florida State University on a full football scholarship in 1992. At Florida State, he was a part of the 1993 National Championship Team and was named Captain his senior year. Coach Rebol is a native to Charlotte County and is a partner in a local civil engineering firm, Banks Engineering. He and his wife Callie have two children, Cutter and Rylee.

Antwan is a native to Punta Gorda and is beginning his second season as the Tarpons Defensive Line coach. Allen went on to play at Webber International University in Babson Park, FL and was apart of the 2014 Sun Conference Championship team. Allen resides in Punta Gorda making a career in community services allowing him to work with various local youth organizations in Charlotte County. Allen is inspired to continue the Tarpon Tradition. 

A native of Freeport, PA, Coach Scott is proud to call Punta Gorda home now. He is entering his 11th year teaching and coaching overall and his 4th as the Head CHS Track & Field Coach. Before arriving at CHS, Coach Scott coached at Flagler, Matanzas High in Palm Coast, as well as Richmond Senior High, Coach Scott earned All-Area, All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State by the PA Football News Association during his jr. and sr. high school years. He was recruited by Coach Paul Johnson's staff at the United States Naval Academy in 2003 and accepted an appointment to continue football and his education in 2004. While at Navy, he was position coached by current Army Director of Football Operations, Clayton Kendrick - Holmes and veteran coach Buddy Green as a defensive back/punt returner. Opting for an early deferment in 2006, he immediately enrolled at Gannon University to pursue teaching and coaching. 

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Coach Crouse graduated from Brownsville High School in 1999. As a running back for Brownsville he was the teams leading rushing with well over 1,000 ground yards and led the W.P.I.A.L in touchdowns his senior year. He continued his football career accepting a football scholarship to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Coach Crouse earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education, and now works full-time as a professional firefighter/paramedic. This will be his first season with CHS as a football coach. Coach Crouse currently serves as the Head Junior Varsity coach, Varsity running back coach, and Assistant track and field coach. 

Coach Curliss is starting his 30th year coaching high school football. He started at his alma mater Fremont Ross High School in Fremont, Ohio and then to Toledo Central Catholic High School. From there he moved to Florida and taught and coached at Mariner High School and Island Coast High School before starting his 1st season at CHS. Coach Curliss has a degree in Physical Education from the University of Toledo and is entering his 25th year of teaching. He is married to Nicky James and has 2 sons Trenton and Kamran.
